SUMMARY:Training Walk 1 - Mt Zero & Mt Stapylton

Those registered for E2E have priority\, but others can fill remaining spaces. So if you are really keen about this walk\, then contact Julie immediately. An email will be sent out when the walk is full.\n\nWalk Details\n\n\nAs part of preparation to walk the GPT end to end (E2E)\, this is the first of three training walks. These will give participants a foretaste of the level of fitness and walk pace required to walk the entire GPT as day walks. \nThis walk will include two peaks that will not be included in the GPT E2E walks (due to time constraints). Mt Zero is the most northerly peak of the Grampians NP and involves rock scrambles but rewarding views at the top.  Mt Stapylton is a side walk off the GPT and involves some rock scrambling. To reach the summit will need a good head for heights and will depend on weather conditions. Walkers can elect to skip this last short ascent. \n\n\n\n \n\nMT ZERO\nGrade:  AWTGS Grade 3 – Moderate\nDistance: 2.4 km out-and-back \nElevation Gain: 142 m\nDuration: 1hr 15m\n\nMT STAPYLTON\nGrade: AWTGS Grade 4/5 – Difficult \n\n\nDistance: 4.6 km out-and-back \nElevation Gain: 383 m\nDuration: 2hr 45m\n\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n\nWater (at least 1.5L)\nLunch\, Snacks\nSturdy boots with good tread\nHat\, Sunscreen (if hot)\nRaincoat\, Overpants (if wet)\nFirst aid kit

SUMMARY:Landsborough Hill Nature Reserve Walk
DESCRIPTION:If you would like to join us\, please notify Mike on 0406 756 855 by 6pm on Thursday\, July 23rd to register your interest and to receive departure times and locations or further information.\n\n\n\n\n\nWalk Details\n\n\n\n\n\nStarting from the northern end of the Landsborough Hill Nature Conservation Reserve\, we will ascend steeply for the first 40 minutes over 2 km\, with a couple of breaks on the way up or when needed. There is a large expanse of Golden Wattle trees along the base of the hill which should be in full flower by then.\n\n\nFrom the trig tower at the top\, we follow the ridgeline for about 1.5 km before breaking for lunch and enjoying possible views of Kara Kara National Park to the northeast.\n\n\nShortly after lunch\, we will start a steep descent on a 1 km section of washed out road track until it levels out for the final 3 km back to the Landsborough town centre. A car shuffle will be required at the end.\n\n\nPlease see the attached recent photos of the walk.\n\n\n\n\n\nAWTGS Grade: Moderate – Grade 3\n\n\nGrade Description: Rougher surface\, short steep sections\, many steps\, suitable for moderate fitness levels\, some bushwalking experience recommended.\n\n\nDistance: 8.6 km\n\n\nTotal Elevation Gain: 300 m\n\n\nDuration: 3-4 hours including breaks\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n\nWater (at least 1L)\n\n\nLunch\n\n\nSnacks\n\n\nSturdy boots with good tread\n\n\nSun hat\n\n\nRaincoat and overpants (if wet)\n\n\nGloves and beanie (if cold)\n\n\nSunscreen\n\n\nWalking poles for the steep sections in needed
