We may take a\ndetour to visit hidden lagoon depending on weather. Back at the saddle\, we will\nnavigate off track to the summit of Mt Gorrin and then navigate down the southern\nslopes avoiding the large rock faces to reach the aboriginal rock art site at the base\nthen return to vehicles by walking trail and fire trail. Note part of the walk is off track.\nLearn to read a topographic map and navigate using map and compass. SUMMARY:Coppermine Track to Gar Trailhead
DESCRIPTION:If you would like to join us\, please notify Mike on 0406 756 855 by 6pm on Friday\, June 19th to register your interest and to receive departure times and locations or further information.\n\nWalk Details\nThis challenging Grade 3 walk is probably the least challenging section of the Grampians Peaks Trail. Starting from the Coppermine Track\, we will walk south along a ridgeline to the Gar trailhead on Roses Gap Rd. There are good views to both the east and west and we will pass by Barrigar Falls\, which will have a decent amount of flow due to the recent rains. At about the halfway point\, we will have lunch in the Barrigar hike-in campground shelter. About half of the trail is uneven and rocky and can be slippery in places if wet. \n\nA car shuffle along rough roads will be required. \n\n\nPlease see the attached recent photos of the walk.\n\nAWTGS Grade: Moderate – Grade 3+\nGrade Description: Rougher surface\, short steep sections\, many steps\, suitable for moderate fitness levels\, some bushwalking experience recommended.\nDistance: 9.5 km \nTotal Elevation Gain: 220 m\nDuration: 4-5 hours including breaks\n\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n\nWater (at least 1L)\nLunch\nSnacks\nSturdy boots with good tread\nHat\nRaincoat and overpants (if wet)\nGloves and beanie (if cold)\nSunscreen
