Walk Details
This is the second of 13 day walks to complete the Grampians Peaks Trail (GPT) End to End (E2E) from North to South over the next year.

This section of the GPT has no easy car access for day walks and will require using closed firelines to access the GPT. This walk involves an extended car shuffle, with 45mins drive from Halls Gap to where we leave cars (at end of walk) and a further 50 mins drive through Zumsteins and Wartook to the Gar trailhead walk start. This will mean an early start from Stawell.

From the Gar trailhead in Roses Gap, we walk the GPT up through a series of rock bars to Gar Falls. From the falls, the track climbs up onto the cliffline above to meet with the track coming in from Beehive Falls, then up through a very scenic rock chute staircase with great views of Gar. Crossing the next rock shelf, we then climb up to where the Briggs Bluff track departs from the GPT (done on training walk #2). The GPT continues on through rocky terrain climbing past the Gar camp. About 300m after the camp, we then divert off the GPT toward the Mt Difficult (Gar) summit track. From here we take a track downhill to Longpoint West camp where we follow the fireline to the cars on Mt Difficult Rd. We will climb Gar summit if there is time.
