Come & Try Bushwalking Day
WALK NAME: Beehive and Gar Falls
WALK SUMMARY: This is a great walk in the Northern section of the Grampians NP with a focus on waterfalls, but there is forest, heathland, huge and spectacular cliffs, and expansive views.
DATE and TIME:
13 Sep 2025 Start time will be advised on registration.
WALK DESCRIPTION: The walk initially follows Dead Bullock Creek (no surprises where that name came from!) where there is a series of beautiful waterfalls, the Gar Falls, culminating in the highest of the falls where we will have a short break before ascending the first of a series of short climbs. As we climb, we leave the forest and the enter heathlands where views across to the Mt Difficult Range and the country to the north open up.
At the Beehive Falls Track junction 3.2km from our starting point, we leave the GPT and walk along a large rock shelf, head north east along the base of an impressive textured cliff face. The relatively easy walking comes to an end as we descend the escarpment beside Beehive Falls very steeply. Take care. After admiring the falls, we cross over the footbridge and follow the track for the easy walk to the Beehive Falls carpark.
DISTANCE:
7 km One Way with car shuffle at end. Walking time 4 hours
AWT GRADE: 3 (Easy/Medium). The walk is fully on track but for some sections it is quite exposed to both sun and adverse weather. There is some scrambling over rocks, and the section near Beehive Falls is steep – care is required if wet.
TOTAL ASCENT:
300m
